Last Tuesday, Barack Obama gave one of the best speeches I have ever heard. He discussed race in America. It’s an issue that has been avoided for many years. He was prompted to give the speech because his minister said some stupid things and this created “controversy” among the media and talking puppets. I think it’s silly that someone should be attacked because of their pastor and he wasn’t even in attendance at the time. Nevermind that McCain has been endorsed by John Hagee, who has stated that Muslims have a “mandate” to kill Christians and Jews and that God caused Hurricane Katrina to destroy New Orleans to prevent a scheduled gay parade, and Rod Parsley, who has called upon Christians to wage a “war” against the “false religion” of Isam with the aim of destroying it. McCain has even appeared at campaign rallies with Parsley and Obama hasn’t done anything with his pastor. Yet Obama was the one that was forced to speak about his pastor. Pastors, ministers, priests, etc. have no place in endorsing candidates. If they do this then they should no longer exempt from tax-free status. There is a reason that the First Amendment stipulates the separation of church and state.

Anyways, check out the speech. He shows true leadership in handling this little crisis in his campaign. He doesn’t just sweep it under the rug or come out attacking. He challenges us to understand the larger issue of race. Just brilliant…
